Guides we choose ourselves.
We are a small team. Every guide does a trial walk with us first, so they know what to do on a real walk with guests.
Everyone on our team is eager to learn about other countries and cultures, so don't be shy. Ask them about themselves, too.
What every guide has
- Speaks conversational to fluent English.
- Knows Kyoto really well, from the usual spots to the hidden gems.
- Decides quickly and keeps the whole group happy.
- Easy and comfortable with anyone for hours at a time.
- On time, every time. Guests are waiting at the meeting point.
- Comfortable walking 3 to 8 hours in Kyoto's heat or cold.
- Explains etiquette at places like shrines, trains, and restaurants.
How we choose and build our team
We meet each guide in person. We check their English and their Kyoto knowledge ourselves, and we only add guides who are ready to walk with your group.
A guide who loves international cultures, has an outgoing personality, and enjoys a changing plan usually fits best.
